A Pinch of Kindness, A Heaping Tablespoon of Happiness

This crazy economy of ours, just has the whole world upside down. People are struggling everywhere. Many have forgotten how to smile, and some are so stressed they have just forgotten human kindness. I said thank you to the cashier the other day and she said “what” as in ‘wtf‘‘. So sorry, I was just being nice, how dare I.
You just have to know that things are bad, when the local homeless lady, who got beaten really bad, is standing out in front of the local grocery store asking for particular inexpensive food items, so she can complete someone who is less fortunate’s holiday dinner. She had like 7 different family tickets written up with what they needed.
Even the local food pantry hung a homemade sign out asking for food donations.
Gas goes up, and thankfully comes down, but nothing else decreased with it. Hello, anyone see something wrong with this? Food prices are outrageous. Were they not escalating due to the gas problems, energy cost increase and oil prices? So when they came down, all that went up because of it should have come down. Maybe it is me?
Do not get sick, the cost of “copays“, I believe should be categorized under luxury items.
But all kidding aside, things are a little crazy out in our world and maybe what we all need to do is be a little kinder, a little more understanding to one another.
Take the time out to give a stranger a smile, hold the door for the person behind you, tell a stranger to have a nice day, and remember the words please and thank you (they really do go a long way on a hard day, I know I still appreciate them). If you have an extra blanket, wash it and make it smell nice then give it to someone homeless in you community on a cold winters night. Don’t be afraid to tell a neighbor or girlfriend, my son or daughter hardly wore this coat, I was going to donate it, but I am afraid it won’t go to good use, do you know anyone who would want it first? Bring an item to your local pantry or church that they could use- it is for someone who is going through a bit rougher time than yourself (it does not have to be expensive). Some of the local food pantries are hanging homemade signs cause there shelves are near bare.
If you can find no reason to do this, then let me lend you one. Basically, times are so crazy and expensive, most people can not find a guilt free reason to do something that would give them that good feeling of happiness, bringing happiness to someone for absolutely no reason, brings something back to your own heart that you just can not buy. Not to mention, sometimes your gift was something they just could not buy either.
So send me your story of kindness, whether you: witnessed it, supplied some goodwill or were the recipient of someone’s generosity.
If you have a minute, check out what the nice folks at Threefold Fundraising are doing to help out those who do not have a voice that can be heard, maybe give them a hand. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=232704675
Any who, hope you enjoy Complex-Simplicity and Have a Great Day!
