Change Is Upon Us

Life changes; and it is not all about menopause, looking forward to qualifying for a senior discount soon, or getting AARP. Children grow-up and ones life is not as demanding as it once was; the pressure has started to deflate, and there is a lot more of life left to live young. There is a certain new found freedom, a liberating, if I may, experience, wherein I perceive this to be a rejuvenating encounter that has made me even younger and more energetic. (Ah, the birthday is nearing, must remind loved ones how young I am, not how old I am turning!) Still a mom, but now it is “more about me”.
The gift of “me time”; that is the time I get to do anything I want to, which may actually be absolutely nothing. It is about sleeping in past 6:15 am during the school year, to quilt whenever, just spend countless hours finding a new pattern(s) or just spend the entire day collecting materials that match perfectly. Reading at home, not just at downtime at work, but being curled up in a ball in the corner of the couch reading a good book or to select a magazine and read it cover to cover instead of skimming it for whatever catches your eye for a quick read.
But of course, once a mom, always a mom, every now and then I just have to peak over at baby boy, after all he is in the baby stages of adulthood. I look over and smile. He is paving his road and it is filled with excitement, enlightenment, ups and downs, and love. Yes, he is pretty serious about his terrific girlfriend and the pretty baby girl he has claimed his own. He struts with pride with each of them on his arm. (They both have his heart strings.) His love for them has made him work harder and become very organized about where he is headed for the near future. Ah, yes, I am a proud mama.
As for the precious baby girl, she has given me a taste of grandparenting. Mom never lied, it is so different on the other side of the fence. Definitely more fun, and they are returnable when the become a handful. She is a “cutie“, who is discovering her surroundings, foods, sounds and her voice. I think this is one road I am going to enjoy.
My life is full of as many colors as Autumn. The only thing to do is savor all of it and appreciate the changes.
But there is one more wonderful change I want to share and I would like to start by thanking, my son for redesigning Complex-Simplicity. Our new wonderful look includes a recipe box filled with new and old recipes, while we still keep our feature recipe; under Side Notes there are post-its for events to be listed or something to share with readers and we have expanded our Quotes and A Helping Hand sections. Please send any recipes, helping hand info, writing or event postings to msginas@complex-simplicity.com or click on the link at contacts.
Thank you, Son.
Have a Great Day!
