Little Girls: Sugar and Spice

So much has happened since my last notes; and it is all good! The family has grown. I have a future daughter-in-law and a beautiful little one year old granddaughter.
I have had the beautiful opportunity to watch the baby girl go from learning to roll over in her bassinet, to crawling, toddling, to running. She has gone from cooing; baby babble; finding her voice; the first: mama, baba, dada; words-to the current: “Daddy get up!” She has also taken up growling -what’s up with that? First it was formula, then discovering the flavors of baby food stage 1, through the likes and dislikes of stage 2, juices and the ever popular Pastina (the little pasta stars that the little girl sneezed all over herself and me, we wore it well) to stage 3, toddler foods and what I cook. Along with anything on the floor she can stick in her mouth (paper and fuzz are good eatin’).
She shares her food with the dog, who she is trying to call by her name. The dog is quite attached to the little girl: she looks after her like a little mother hen and is upset when the baby goes out. The little girl smiles and giggles, with her mommy – filling the house with a new warmth. She cuddles and naps with daddy, and loves to watch her shows with Auntie. She is a beautiful little girl with big hugs and kisses who I enjoy and have a lot of fun with.
So what is the poop on being a grandma/Lala? (Lala is the name she gave me, it is great.) You are much more relaxed as compared to motherhood. You do not freak out every time they fall; like they are porcelain dolls. When theydo fall you do not have the need to check each and every inch of them; toddlers fall and they turn out fine. Mine did. When you feed them and the food goes all over, there is still a mommy to clean the baby while you clean yourself up. The word “no“, comes out calmer, even if you have to say it 3 times, you are okay with it; because if we do not listen the back-up comes into play, the PARENTS. The parent card comes in very handy when the stinky diaper needs to be changed or the baby is cranky. Lala’s are for spoiling, cuddling, various home cooked eats, hugs, kisses and singing with, hence the name “La, La”.
