Baked Ziti
a recipe that serves 4-6 by
Ingredients:
1 lb Penne or Ziti pasta
2 quarts *Sunday Italian Gravy/Sauce With or Without meat or store bought jar sauce
2 lb Part-Skim or Whole Ricotta
16 oz grated Mozzarella
1/4 cup Locatelli or Romano grated cheese
Directions:
1. Cook pasta as package directioned for ‘al dente’. Upon straining the pasta rinse with cold water, to stop the cooking process, until pasta is cold. Pasta should not be soft.
2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
3. In a extra large bowl mix 1 quart gravy, ricotta, 3/4 of the mozzarella, and the grated cheese. Mix should be smooth and creamy.
4. Add the pasta to the gravy mix.
5. Spray a tin pan (at least 9×6.5×2.5) with pam and one side of a piece of aluminum foil to cover that pan. Add pasta mix to tin.
6. Use 1/4-1/2 quart of remaining gravy to cover top of pasta (sparingly, too much makes it too soup when done), and then evenly spread the remaining mozzarella on top of gravy. Cover with foil pam sprayed side down.
7. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes covered. Sauce should look like it is bubbling and cheese should be completely melted. Let set for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve with remaining gravy hot.
