Brussels Sprouts With Maple And Cayenne

a recipe that serves 4 from Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food, October 2001

Ingredients:

2 lbs Brussels Sprouts
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
coarse salt
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. On a rimmed baking sheet toss Brussels Sprouts with oil and season with coarse salt.
3. Roast until sprouts are browned in spots and tender when pierce with a knife, about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring half-way through.
4. In a small bowl combine syrup and cayenne pepper.
5. When sprouts are done drizzle with maple syrup mix, and stir to coat, and roast 1 minute.

Notes:

In this wonderful recipe, I used store bought basic sugar free maple syrup. It is a great dish with steak or any meat dish.
