Pear Fritters

a recipe that serves 4 by DJ Williams

Ingredients

1/2 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 pear- peeled, cored and diced
2/3 cup of flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
pinch to 1/8 teaspoon salt
dash to 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 egg
3 Tablespoons milk
Canola oil for frying
Optional: powdered sugar

Directions:

1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over med-high heat. Saute pear until caramelized; set aside to cool.
2. In a medium bowl combine: flour, baking powder, salt and pepper; then form a well in the center. In a small bowl beat the egg and milk; then pour into dry ingredients well. Mix well.
3. Gently fold pear into the dough batter.
4. Heat deep fryer to 350 degrees or a skillet pan with Canola oil. Drop in batter by rounded forkfulls into the Hot oil. Fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired, serve hot.
