When Two Became One

Before the laughter stopped,
When memories were created, not yet faded
Until they were lost and the smiles all have gone.

Time outs were for relaxing,
Rather than hiding from the repercussions of disasters
Currently complicated by the infectious difficulties of life.

Easily came so many deep, intriguing conversations
Now, tumultuous, explosive, exhausting screaming battles;
Equivalent to wars wounding too many serving soldiers.

Once a silence that only a quiet togetherness shared,
Became overgrown with isolation and despair
When the shadow disappeared and the sun fell out of the sky.

Basked in the eyes of reflection were the dreams and strengths
Warming a heart that lives; to leave, but one reflection left
In the mirror, see the sadness, the tired and the grieving.
